Hi, Andrea
Yes, you have reached the correct party / Ralph Goodwin (SQYX) / R&D Director : Canoe Peoples who has requested the information available through the BC Legislature Library services on the following matters:
  1. Signatured copy of the 2006 "James Bay Settlement Agreement" as entered into between the Consecutively Settled Sovereign Nation State Peoples of the territories in question (namely, the occupied lands where the "vessel" BC Legislature resides) and the legal authorities representing the EIIR Crown Canada and province British Columbia
  2. Yes, please, use the CanoePeoples@gmail.com for submissions to me. The "touchstonecommittee.chair.rcg@gmail.com is also correct; but, for these research questions and responses, please use theCanoePeoples@gmail.com
  3. Your continued assistance in these matters is most appreciated. It is curious that such a significant land title settlement is not apparently readily available via your library services
Regards, Ralph Goodwin
CELL 1.250.709.1809 or Land Line 1.778.433.3908
on behalf of HRH Stitumaatulwut Hwuneem / aunt to retired BC Lt Governor Hon Steven Point (who provided the forward in your library copy of STO:LO-Coast Salish Historical Atlas)

Hi there,

I’m a research librarian at the Legislative Library of BC, and this afternoon had a gentleman come in with a research question who left this email address as a contact. I’ve just realized that the business card he left had an email on both front and back, and I wanted to ascertain which address was the correct one. Client privacy is very important to us, and I wouldn’t want to accidentally email any research discussion to someone besides the client in question.

If this has reached the gentleman who was in this afternoon (and apologies if both emails are yours and you’re seeing this twice), if you could respond to this email, maybe with the basics of your research question so I know it’s reached the right person, I would really appreciate it.

Best,
Andrea

Hi Ralph,

I’m sorry about the email mix up, and thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Here are the digital resources we have on the James Bay Settlement Agreement:

A 2007 press release on the ratification of the agreement:

The Library’s catalogue page for a news release about the agreement, which also contains a backgrounder, three photos of the signing and associated ceremony, and the speech made by Minister De Jong at the ceremony:

Annual report of the James Bay Settlement Trust – 2012
(This is the only year I could find, but it’s possible that other reports have been released.)

Downloadable document of the court case that preceded the settlement:

I unfortunately did not find any additional information on the Esquimalt or Songhees First Nation websites. I hope this information will be useful, and if we can help with anything further please let me know.

Best,

Andrea
